Grading plans must be prepared under the supervision of a licensed architect or civil engineer. The plans must be signed and stamped by the licensed architect or civil engineer prior to issuance of the permit. When grading activities exceed 2,000 cubic yards of material, a civil engineer is required by County Code to prepare the plan. Regardless of size, the Planning Department may require engineered plans for complex or otherwise problematic sites.
