Free Erosion Control Training for Inspectors, Contractors and the Public
Environmental Planning is pleased to announce our 2019 Erosion Control Workshop dates for both municipal staff and contractors. This year, we are working with the sponsors of Storm Water Awareness Week to provide two workshops. Topics will include subjects relevant to contractors, members of the public, and municipal staff, such as review of erosion and sediment control plans and inspection requirements, as well as topics for contractors, such as BMP installation and erosion control basics. Light refreshments provided.
When: Thursday, September 26, 2019; 9:00 a.m. & 10:00 a.m.
Where: Aptos Village Park Meeting Room (100 Aptos Creek Road)
Class Descriptions:
9:00 a.m. “Tips for MS4s: How to review ESCPs and perform storm water compliance inspections” QSP Jonah Sonner will talk to municipal staff about how to review an ESCP (erosion and sediment control plan) and perform storm water compliance inspections at construction sites. Jonah will share from his personal experience doing both of these activities at several Central Valley MS4s. There will be time for Q&As.
10:00 a.m. “BMP 101: How to Control Erosion and Sedimentation at Construction Sites” QSP Jonah Sonner will review the basics of controlling erosion and sedimentation at construction sites. BMPs to be discussed include fiber roll, silt fence, compost socks, curb cutbacks, gravel bag berms, drain inlet protection, track out control, stock pile management, and ways to establish an effective soil cover. This is a great workshop to invite contractors, municipal maintenance staff, and anyone who will be installing or inspecting BMPs.
Who Should Attend: Construciton site operators, property owners, contractors/sub-contractors, and municipal inspectors
Registration Required: Attendees may register for one or both classes here: https://www.stormwaterawareness.org/registration/student/list.php
