The Housing Section of the Planning Department performs a number of Housing functions. Over the past 20 years, County and Redevelopment Agency-sponsored housing efforts have provided assistance to over 1,000 affordable housing units, involving both new construction and renovation projects.
Current housing activities include partnering with non-profit affordable housing developers to build new affordable units and supporting a variety of efforts to create affordable housing opportunities in the community.
Eligibility for affordable housing programs is based on Annual Median Income which is published annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD. Please see Income Table and the Affordable Housing Guidelines.

- October 28, 2020 UPDATE: Funds are still available through the Santa Cruz County CARES Program, which provides emergency rental assistance to lower-income renters in the unincorporated area of Santa Cruz County.
